Obituary of Lillian M. Stewart

Lillian M. “Dolly” Stewart, age 92 of Mount Pleasant PA, died peacefully, Sunday, June 5, 2022 at her home, with her devoted family at her side. Mrs. Stewart was born in Carpentertown, Mount Pleasant on January 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mae Logan Newill. Dolly was so down to earth, a housewife who enjoyed raising her children and spending cherished time with family. She was the last surviving member of the Newill family. She is survived by sons Kenneth Stewart and Janie, Carl Allen Stewart Jr. and Sharon, all of Mt. Pleasant, and daughter Pat Barrick of Norvelt. Dolly will be missed by her beloved grandchildren, Stacey Shaner, Corey Funk, Kelly Vance, Kim Hudzema and Travis Stewart and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother and sister in laws, Herb Tempest of Mt. Pleasant, Joe Stewart of Vanderbilt, Ellis Stewart and Pat of Smock, and Newt and Donna Stewart of Vanderbilt. In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Allen Stewart in 2017, son in law Thomas “Zangy” Barrick, brothers Ken and Melvin Newill, and sisters Jane Tempest and Nancy Saloom. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 9th at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Rev.Dr. Dale Porterfield officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department or Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Dolly.
