Obituary of Mary Louise Haas

Mary Louise (Hornick) Haas, age 82 of North Huntingdon PA, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday April 26, 2022, in Oak Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Haas was born September 12, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Sophia Smulsky Hornick. Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Irwin and former member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Haas was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Association. Mary loved gardening, cooking, and baking. She loved reading her cook books. Mary made the very best cinnamon rolls and Kolache`. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, and always offered her loving motherly advice. We all love you and our hearts are broken. Mary is survived by her loving son Richard A. Haas of Hookstown; her brother, Lawrence Hornick of Mt. Pleasant; her niece, Cynthia (Roger) Haines of Mt. Pleasant; and her cousin, Betty Lou Wacko and her son, Colt (Brittany) Fosbrink of Acme. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years John L. Haas in 2012; her sister, Dorothy J. Hornick in 1994; and her brother, Joseph E. Hornick in 2011. In honoring Mary's wishes there will be no hours of public visitation. A private funeral service was held in the funeral home. Interment was in the Visitation Parish Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant.
