Obituary of Betty J. Balcerek

Betty J. (Domurat) Balcerek, age 88 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday, March 6, 2022 in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Balcerek was born July 21, 1933 in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of the late Adam and Frances Domurot. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant and of the former Transfiguration Parish. Betty was a 1950 graduate of the former Ramsay High School.. She was also a graduate of the first class of X-ray Techs from Westmoreland Hospital. Betty was a retired X-ray Technologist for Frick (Excela) Hospital and an assistant manager of the medical imaging department. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and her card club She always enjoyed when she and Mert went on the bus trips to Notre Dame. Betty is survived by her son, Mark Balcerek, ,her granddaughters, Casey (Zachary) Wineland and Lexie Balcerek and by her great-granddaughter, Avery Marie. She is also survived by her sister, Sally Smetak, numerous step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. “Mert” Balcerek in 2019 and by her brother, John Domurot. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM , at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Prayers will be said at the funeral home Thursday at 10:30 AM followed by Betty’s Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Pius X RC Church, Summit and Silver Streets, Mount Pleasant.
