Obituary of Joseph J. Jaworski

Joseph “Jabs” Jaworski, 93, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022, in Hempfield Manor. Joe was born on October 18, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Andrew and Joan Siemianowska Jaworski. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 30 years by Westinghouse Corp. where he worked for 20 years in Youngwood and 10 years in Churchill at Research and Development. After his graduation from Hurst High School in 1946, he was scouted for professional baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies Farm System. He was drafted into the Army in 1950 during the Korean War (Conflict) and served 2 years. On his discharge, he played baseball with the Chicago White Sox Farm System for 2 years, then returned to Mt. Pleasant and coached and managed baseball for The American Legion and Kosciusko Club in the Fay West and County Leagues. Joe was a member of the former Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his children- Jenifer Kaputa of Mt. Pleasant, Julie (Chris) Brown of Surf City, North Carolina, and John (Melissa) Jaworski of Mt. Pleasant. Also survived by five loving grandchildren who they called Dzia “Judge” - which means grandfather in Polish- Lauren and Lindsey Kaputa, Rachel Brown, and Chloe and Bryce Jaworski, and his last surviving sibling Elizabeth (Stanley) Wolak of Lorain, Ohio. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Madeline (Madge) Schwalke Jaworski whom he married on September 18, 1965, three brothers and their wives Walter (Mary) Jaworski, Leo (Gertrude) Jaworski, Bruno (Martha) Jaworski all of Mt. Pleasant, and three sisters and their husbands Helen (Paul) Kulniszewski of Buffalo, New York, Martha (Walter) Tylka of Lorain, Ohio, and Irene (Frank) Rafacz of Mt. Pleasant. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 AM followed by his funeral mass at 11AM at St. Pius X. R C Church. Internment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446, will be in Transfiguration Cemetery.
