Obituary of Eva U. Gray

Eva Uranna “Renny” Goughenour Gray, 98 and lifelong resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born January 7, 1924, in Carpentertown, a daughter of the late Elmer E. Goughenour and Eva Irene Dugan Goughenour. Renny was a 1941 graduate of the former Hurst High School in Mt. Pleasant. She was happily married for 38 years to her sweetheart, Francis “Paddy” Gray, who passed away in March of 1981. She was a loving mother and was extremely devoted to her family and her home, which she was very proud of. She had many personal interests and hobbies including genealogy, scrapbooking, poetry, music, sewing & crafts, reading, and most importantly, her spiritual studies. She always looked forward to her yearly visits to Michigan with her best friend/sister, Vivian. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Hattie Hirak, her brother, Harry “Cokey” Goughenour, and her son-in-law, Wayne Simms. She is survived by her loving family: her sister, Vivian Gray of Greensburg; her daughters, Loxie Simms of Mt. Pleasant and Renny Kalp (Glenn) of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren, Elaina McDonald (Regis), Timothy Simms (Margaret Ann), Kristin Berrigan (Jeff), and Brianna Gera (Skip); and her great-grandchildren, Angela and Maria McDonald, Jeremy Simms (Meghan), Joshua Simms, Sean and Shayla Cain, and Sophia and Sarina Gera. A private memorial service for the family will be held at a future date. All arrangements are entrusted to Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant.
