Obituary of Elmer Eli Harrold

Elmer Eli Harrold, age 94 of Irwin, died Sunday, January 2, 2022 at St. Anne Home in Greensburg. Mr. Harrold was born July 2, 1927 in New Stanton, a son of the late Eli and Elizabeth (Overton) Harrold. He was a Veteran of the Korean War who proudly served in the United States Navy. Elmer, a Christian and strong believer, met the love of his life while singing in the choir at church. He married, the late, Carolyn (Yanuck) Harrold in 1974 and their devotion to each other, their family and the church blessed them with a very full life. They attended Word of Life Ministries in Greensburg, where they continued to enrich their lives and were role models for many as their belief in the Lord and kindness to all they met was readily evident. Elmer had enjoyed his career as a supervisor with the former WR Wagner Construction Company where he oversaw the construction of many homes in Greensburg’s East High Acres and Charter Oaks and many in the Youngwood area. He had also worked for Pittsburgh Paint. Elmer is survived by his sister, Eileen C. Smith of Loyalhanna, his in laws, Andrew F. Shea of Dallas, TX and Carolyn (Wojciak) Yanuck of Mechanicsburg and many nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews who are left to cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Yanuck Harrold in 2020, by his brother, Raymond C. Harrold and by his sisters, Alice Kunkle and Lillian P. Allison. Family and friends will be received from Noon until 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. Interment will follow in the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to St. Anne Home, Greensburg, PA in memory of Elmer Harrold.
