Nancy L. (Newill) Saloom, 85, of Mt. Pleasant township, passed away Saturday evening, December 11, 2021, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born July 6, 1936, in Yukon, PA, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mae (Logan) Newill. She loved gardening and flowers, her many pets on the farm, but most of all spoiling her children and grandchildren. Nancy and her sisters would carry on and make us all laugh so hard. More recently Nancy enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching the antics of the birds and squirrels that she fed. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Eugene G. Saloom, with whom she enjoyed hitting the slots in Atlantic City, NJ, and vacationing in Virginia Beach, VA, and Marco Island, FL. She learned to cook and bake all the foods he loves. She is also survived by a daughter, Dr. Charlene R. Saloom and her husband, Guy George, of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Charles R. Saloom, of Surfside Beach, SC; three grandsons: Nathan, Thaddeus, and Alexander; a granddaughter, Sidney, and her mother, Kelly; her sister, Dolly Stewart; nephews: Ken Stewart, Allen Stewart, and Ken Newell; nieces, Pat Barrick, Dorinda Ober, and Tammy Keslar; great-nieces and great-nephews: Stacey, Corey, Travis, Jack "JR", Kelly, Kim, Christy, Alison and Brennan; brother-in-law, Herb Tempest; sisters-in-law: Gloria Saloom and Marlene Saloom; and several Newill, Logan and Dillon cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Melvin "Shorty" Newill while serving in the Army during the Korean war, and Kenneth Newell and his wife, Adeline; her sister, Jane Tempest; and a brother-in-law, Carl Stewart.
