Obituary of James M. Schroyer

James M. Schroyer, age 66 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Sunday, December 5, 2021 in the Excela Health-Westmoreland Hospital Greensburg, PA. Mr. Schroyer was born April 27, 1955 in Mount Pleasant, PA, a son of the late Arthur and Amy Thomas Schroyer. Jim was a 1974 graduate of Southmoreland High School. Since the age of 20, he had been employed at Summerill Tube. As Plant Manager, he always felt the best part of his job was his employees and their well being. He was extremely dedicated to all the guys who worked there. He was well known for being seen at Steiners Skating Rink for years, a member of the Scottdale Firemans Club, an avid Steelers fan, and Pitt Football and Basketball teams. Most importantly, Jim was a simple and selfless man who valued his family time above anything else. Time spent with his grandsons or “the boys” as he called them was truly cherished. Jim is survived by his loving family; his wife of 43 years, Jill L. Polan Schroyer, his son, Brant J. (Ashlee) Schroyer, his daughter, Jenna J. (Justin) Ambrosini, his beloved grandsons, Jaxon, Jace, and Kade, and of course, his most adoring companion, his pug Lucy. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Kevin (Jackie) DeWitt, Jay (Kim) Polan, Jeff Polanofsky, his “special niece” Lindsay (Mike) Czekaj, sister-in-law Barb Schroyer, step mother, Betty Schroyer, step sister Becky, and numerous loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers; Arthur C. Schroyer and his wife Peg, Anthony “Jay” Schroyer, Edward Schroyer and his baby brother, Daniel. Family and Friends will be received from 3 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21st. at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A private funeral service will be held in the funeral home. A celebration of Jim’s life for family and friends will be held at a future date.
