Obituary of Dorothy J. (Guzik) Zipnock

Dorothy J. (Guzik) Zipnock, age 91 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday, March 17, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Zipnock was born September 22, 1925 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Andras Guzik. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, and the former Transfiguration Parish. Dorothy was a 1943 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. She was a member of the Visitation Christian Mothers, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Slovak Club and the Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Club. Dorothy along with her late husband Adam were caretakers of the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery. Dorothy is survived by her loving family: her children; Robert Zipnock and his wife Bonnie of Greensburg, Dr. David Zipnock of Midland, PA, her beloved grandchildren; Janet Zimmerman (Jeff), Mike Cujas, Lindsay Smetak (Michael), Alexandra Zipnock-Rossi (Garrett), Krystal Lynch (Bret), Kristin Zipnock (Sean), and her great grandchildren; Joey Macey (Dan), Noah Lynch, Harper Smetak, Bethany Zimmerman(Teno) and Nicole Zimmerman, and Hunter Charles Smetak, due April 2017. She is also survived by her daughters in law, Karen Zipnock and Barbara Kravice. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Adam E. Zipnock in 1992 and by her son, Edward Adam Zipnock in 1999. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by Dorothy's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 3PM.
