Obituary of John Nicholas Pavick

 

John N. Pavick, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday January 6, 2024 at Independence Health System – Frick Hospital.  John was born December 9, 1929 in Hecla to the late John and Mary Varholla Pavick Sr.

 

John went to the service in August 1951 and was a United States Army Paratrooper Airborne II during the Korean War.  While in the service he met a girl named Margot and they got married.  They lived for 8 years in Turkey while he worked as a contractor for the United States Air Force.  Then they moved to California and John retired from Levitz Furniture after 26 years. 

 

John is survived by his loving family, his siter-in-law, Barbara Pavick; his niece; 6 nephews; and his special caregiver, Mitzie Kimmel.  John was preceded in death by his father in 1947; his mother in 1995; his wife Margot Habarich Pavick; his sisters, Margaret Goughan and Elizabeth Varasko; and by his brother, Michael Pavick.

 

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant.  A Panachida will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Divine Liturgy at St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, 525 Porter Ave., Scottdale at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Oleh Seremchuk, Celebrant.  Interment with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 446 of Mt.
