Obituary of Clark Raymond Hancock
Clark Raymond "Ray" Hancock Jr., 95, of Hunker, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, peacefully at Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Nov. 19, 1923, in Blacklick, he is the son of the late Clark Raymond and Adeline (Barger) Hancock. Ray married his loving and faithful wife, Sara Ann (Fisher) 70 years ago after meeting on a blind date. He was a member of the Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II, stationed in San Francisco, Calif., and Honolulu, Hawaii. Ray was a member of St John's Reformed United Church of Christ, in Mt. Pleasant Township, where he was very active and held many positions within the church and Sunday school. Ray worked for Moore and Moreford in South Greensburg as a fabrication foreman at his retirement. Ray loved days of traveling, fishing and just tinkering around. Ray also enjoyed his pets, especially his little guardian, Oreo. In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his children, Adeline (Stewart) Smokler, of Virginia Beach, Va., Charles, of New Alexandria, Connie (Randy) Cable, of Scottdale, Carl (Corrine), of Elizabeth, and Cindy (James) Watson, of Hunker. He was also blessed with grandchildren, Jonathan, Kenneth, Beth, Qwen, Adeline, Charles, Carey, Clark, Christopher, Crystal, Craig and Casey; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Glendell Fisher, and two nieces, Julie and Charlene. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Jellison and June Betts. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, St. John's Union Church, 170 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666. A service of celebration will immediately follow at 1 p.m. in the church, with Pastor Robert Kruel, officiating. A family internment will be held in the St. John's Union Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the Ambrust Veterans Association. GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St.m Mt.
