Obituary of Richard J. DePree
Mount Pleasant, PA
Richard (Dick) J. DePree, loving husband of Linda and father of Anne and Adam, passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on Sunday morning at home, surrounded by his family. The son of Eugene and Irene DePree (nee Sofranko) of Latrobe, PA, Dick was a gifted athlete, earning a football scholarship to William and Mary College. A scratch golfer, he won many golfing tournaments and garnered certified holes-in-one. Having served honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, Dick was a member of the local VFW and Polish Falcons. He belonged to the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 354 Union.
Dick is survived by his wife and children, Mya (his beloved collie/golden mix), Noah (his grandson), and siblings Jean Beaumariage, John (Jock) DePree, Tom DePree, Sarah (Sally) Smith, Ron DePree and Don DePree. A man of few words, Dick's strength, courage and ability to kick back and have a good time will be deeply missed by all who love him.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant., where Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko officiating.
Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446, and the VFW Post 3368 will be in the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.
