Obituary of Helen M. Polakovsky

Mount Pleasant, Helen M. (Varholla) Polakovsky , age 91, of Mount Pleasant PA, died Friday (01/12/18) in the Excela Health- Frick Hospital Mt. Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Polakovsky was born May 4, 1926 in Mammoth, PA., the daughter of the late John and  Anna Bennish Varholla. Helen was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, and its Holy Rosary Society and Christian Mothers. She was a 1944 graduate of the former Hurst High School. Helen was employed during WWII at Westinghouse Corp, and after the war at Hagen Ice Cream Co in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed flower gardening, collecting dolls, crocheting and music. She was an exceptional cook and baker, but most of all enjoyed caring for her family. She was very religious and was most proud that she was a second cousin of Andy Warhol. She is survived by her loving family: Her children: Dr. Andrew G. Polakovsky and Deeann of Scottdale, Marion Polakovsky and Jackie of Tarrs, Chris Polakovsky and Linda of Mt. Pleasant, Ann Geyer and Melvin, Caroline Palanko both of Mt. Pleasant. Her daughter in law: Cheri Polakovsky of Tarrs, her sister in law: Bernadine Gross of Tarrs. Her beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua, Brian, Carrie, Jason, Socrates, Anastazia, Andrew, Erin, Rebecca, Nicholas, Emma and Heidi. Her great grandchildren: Jacob, Rylan, Isabella, Baxter, and Chase. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband: Andrew W. Polakovsky in 2003; her son; Joseph Polakovsky in 2016, her daughter; Mary Polakovsky in 1952 and her sisters: Evelyn Kurimcak and Mary Ceidro. Family and friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at th Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Tuesday in the funeral home at 9:30AM followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation Of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home at 3PM and the holy rosary will pray the rosary immediately following the wake service on Monday..
