Obituary of Mercedes Louise (Galley) Puskar
Mercedes Louise (Galley) Puskar passed away on October 14 at Saint Anne's Home in Greensburg. She was the daughter of the late George D. and Marie Hartwig Galley. She was born in Mount Pleasant on October 21, 1934. Mercedes was the wife of Joseph A. Puskar, who passed in 2007. She was the mother of Gregory Paul Puskar and daughter-in-law Sharon Puskar of Morgantown, WV. She is survived by a brother, Raymond A. Galley, and wife Zona, of Brentwood, PA, sister-in-law Audrey Puskar Kubitsky and husband Richard, sister-in-law Regina Puskar Damico and brother-in-law Michael Grossi and wife Carolyn, all of FL, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded by her brother William R. Galley and his wife, Violet Krystyniak Galley, brother Eugene G. Galley and his wife, Delores Hoza Galley, sister-in-law Lois Greer Galley, and brother-in-law Frank Damico.
Mercedes was a member of the former St. Joseph's parish, where she was a member of the choir, and current member of Saint Pius X parish, where she was a minister of the Eucharist. She is a graduate of the former Ramsay High School. She was employed at People's First National Bank (now PNC Bank) at the main office on Fifth and Wood Street in Pittsburgh. She was a baker at Holy Trinity Catholic grade school for 14 years and volunteered there for many years before taking the bakery position. Mercedes was active in parish festivals, including serving as co-chair, as well as other church and school functions for many years.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home , 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM in St. Pius X. Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Richard J. Kosisko, as celebrant.
