Obituary of Leonard D. DeCarlo

Leonard D. DeCarlo, 86, of Mt. Pleasant died Sunday May 24, 2026 at Independence Health Frick Hospital.  Mr. DeCarlo was born November 18, 1939 in Uniontown to the late Leonard A. and Mary Lovey DeCarlo.

Leonard was a graduate of Uniontown High School and California University of Pennsylvania.  He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant and the Knights of Columbus.  He proudly served his country in the United Sates Air Force.  He worked as a managing editor for the Laurel Group/Mt. Pleasant Journal and for FEMA as a public information officer.  Leonard was very family oriented and could always be found at his grandkids many activities.   He was also a very loyal Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Leonard is survived by his loving family, his children, Phillip DeCarlo Sr., Shirley Sofranko (Bob), and Nancy Packe (Eric); his grandchildren, Jillian DeCarlo, Justin DeCarlo, Phillip DeCarlo Jr. (Sierra), Morgan Shimko (Zack), Jack Packe, and Chad Packe; his great-grandson, Hunter Breakiron; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Tatsuko DeCarlo in 2023; and by his brother, Francis DeCarlo (Mary)

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc, Mt. Pleasant, where a Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X R.C. Church.  Interment will follow in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 446 of Mt.
