Obituary of Mary Lou Bednar

Mary Louise “Mary Lou” (Izzi) Bednar, 91, of Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday May 13, 2026 at her residence.  Mary Lou was born September 20, 1934 in Uniontown daughter of the late Donato Angelo and Evelina Matilda (Marcacci) Izzi.  She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Andrew Bednar in 2005, to whom she was married 47 years.

She was a graduate of Uniontown Sr. High School class of 1952.  Mary Lou had been employed by Gradler Studios of Photography for 34 years until her retirement in 2009.  She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant.  She was also a member of St. Pius-Visitation Church Choir, the Ministry of Consolation, a teller, volunteered as a helper in its Bible School, and also the Lenten Dinners. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Andrew and Mary Bednar; brother-in-law Edward Delara; and her sister-in-law Patricia Buterbaugh (Leroy).  Mary Lou is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Victoria L. Roth (Kenneth); her son, Gregory C. Bednar (Amy Jo); her grandchildren, Lindsay Rosatti (Nicholas), Lauren Roth, Zackery and Emily Bednar; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Kash, and Lennon.  She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Heyser (James), Carolyn Brown; her brother, Dan A. Izzi (Dianne); her sister-in-law, Cecelia Delara; and by many nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 224 Summit St., Mt. Pleasant (Everyone please go directly to church). A private inurnment will be held in St. Pius Parish Cemetery.  All arrangements have been entrusted to Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt.
