Obituary of Kathleen A. Skero

Kathleen A. “Jay” Skero, 87, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday October 13, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Skero was born February 9, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Edward and Irene Long Kantorik.

Jay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She took a lot of pride in raising her children, and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, journaling, and staying connected through social media.  Jay had a big heart and a great sense of humor, her house was always open to her children’s friends. 

Jay is survived by her loving family, her children, Cheryl Carden (Larry), Patti Showman, Sandra Skero, and Edward Skero all of Mt. Pleasant; her grandsons, Joseph Roadman (Jennifer) and Patrick Showman (Emily); her great-grandchildren, Lukas and Avery Showman, and Joey and Brooklyn Roadman; and by several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter P. Skero in 2006; her sons-in-law, Richard Showman and Joseph Roadman; and by her sister, Janet Lawson.

In honoring Jay’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  All arrangements have been entrusted to Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Pleasant.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to a local animal shelter in memory of Kathleen “Jay” Skero.
