Obituary of Janet K. Zozula

Our beloved mother, Janet Marie Kantorik Zozula, 91, passed away August 27, 2025 surrounded by family. Born in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. in 1933, she was a dedicated parent, committed spouse, and doting grandmother and great grandmother. She filled our lives with generosity and perpetual kindness. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Kantorik, mother Mary Kantorik, sister, Dorothy Weir, sister Marlene Kelley, and husband, Edward Zozula. She is survived by sons, Kerby Zozula from Ventura, Ca. and Kevin Zozula (Kathy) from Acme, Pa.  Three granddaughters, Bethany Zozula from Greensburg, Pa., Hilary Zozula Eckel, (Shane) from Pittsburgh, Pa., and Greta Zozula from Warwick, New York(Jon Cooper). Sister-in-law, Mary Ann Zozula, from Scottdale, Pa. Three great-granchildren, nieces and nephews.

Janet was a lifelong member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a graduate of West Penn Nursing School in Pittsburgh, Pa. and was a registered nurse with Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. for 20 years. She will be fondly remembered for her Christmas spirit and her ability to make every family gathering a celebration. She was treasured for her skills in the kitchen and introduced the family to celebrity chef culture and was an original foodie. She was an astute observer of trends, lifestyle, and sports, often sharing her vast knowledge through assimilation. She loved to vacation in California with her husband, Ed. Her sincere message to the world which accompanied all of her interactions was, “Be good.”
