Obituary of Bernadine M. Burns

Bernadine M. “Bernie” Burns, 90, of Mt. Pleasant died Sunday August 24, 2025 at her residence with her loving family by her side.  Mrs. Burns was born October 25, 1934 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Robert J. and Anastasia Cybula Wells.

Bernadine was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.  She was a graduate of Ramsay High School.  She worked as a sewing inspector at Union Apparel in Norvelt and volunteered in the school cafeteria at St. Pius.  Bernie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a friend to many. 

She is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Colleen Burns and Lisa Carlson; her granddaughters, Christine Carlson (Michael Torrez), and Nicole Toy (Greg); her great-grandchildren, Bohden, Blake, Hudson, and Delanie; and by numerous extended family.  In addition to her parents, Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Burns in 2019; and by her brother, Joseph “Sonny” Wells.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X R.C. Church, 224 Summitt St., Mt. Pleasant.  A Funeral Mass will immediately follow with the Rev. Tomas Avila, as celebrant.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to St. Pius X. R.C.
