Obituary of Robert M. Candiano
Robert (Bob) Candiano, 87 of Connellsville and formally of Myrtle Beach, SC and Westfield, MA, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Born in Westfield Massachusetts, Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served 8 years and one of his proudest accomplishments during his service was as a hurricane hunter. He was retired from American Saw & Manufacturing/Lennox where he worked in research and development. He was a member of the North Myrtle Beach Power Squadron where he served as commander and was able to share his love for boating. In his later years, he enjoyed working on his Corvette, woodworking, winery trips with his grandaughters and spending time with his family.
He lived a life full of love for his family and laughter and leaves behind a legacy that will live on in each one of us.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Sleasman (Barry), Catherine Voss (Jon), his grandchildren Stephanie Sauer (Derek), Nicole Baughman (Matt), Paige Butler (Brandon), Jared Voss and Tessa Voss, and his great grandchildren Morgan Ritenour, Jace Baughman, Harper Baughman, Emma Butler, Beau Butler and Harlow Baughman, his brother Don Candiano, his sister-in-law Susan Sheppard, and many other dear relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Jane Candiano, his father Salvatore Candiano and his sisters-in-law’s Donna Candiano, Doris Clark and Nancy Swanner.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to WVU Uniontown hospital One West staff and Hospice services. The care he received was deeply appreciated by his entire family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Golf Club (The Celebration will be held in the Horizon Room), 440 Pleasant Valley Rd. Connellsville, PA 15425. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Tunnel to Tower online at T2T.org or by calling 718-987-1931.
