Obituary of John A. Jaworski

John “Jabs” Jaworski, 55, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at home on Friday, March 14, 2025. Born on October 24, 1969, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of the late Joseph and Madeline (Schwalke) Jaworski.

John had a distinguished career with Lockheed Martin and SAIC, specializing in Naval Electronics and Surveillance. In 2001, he was honored as Pennsylvanian of the Year by the Governor’s Committee on Hiring Persons with Disabilities. That same year, he served as the keynote speaker at Pittsburgh’s Top CEOs event and played a key role in sponsoring a White House dinner for corporate leaders. In 2004, John was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni Ambassador by Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) for his professional accomplishments.

A 1988 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, John was a proud member of the 1987 WPIAL Championship football team. To this day, he holds the record for the longest field goal in Mt. Pleasant history. He attended Marshall University before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from IUP. He later obtained his MBA from Point Park University.

John honorably served his country as a veteran of Desert Storm, working in naval intelligence and cryptology under the Sea, Air, Mariner program.

John was a devout member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. In his youth, he served as an altar server at the former Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Melissa (Sochacki) Jaworski; his children, Chloe Jaworski (fiancé Trevor Gush) and Bryce Jaworski, both of Mt. Pleasant; his sister, Jenifer Kaputa of Mt. Pleasant; his sister, Julie Brown (Chris) of Surf City, North Carolina; and his in-laws, David and Dana Sochacki of Glendale, Arizona, and mother-in-law Patricia Sochacki of Mt. Pleasant. He was also a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews: Lauren and Lindsey Kaputa, Rachel Brown, and Logan and Madison Sochacki.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeline Jaworski; his father-in-law, Paul Sochacki; and his sister-in-law, Julie Sochacki.  John found joy in spending time with his family, listening to polkas and 80s music, watching the Steelers, and socializing with friends.
