Obituary of Dean B. Carlson

Dean B. Carlson, 71, of North Huntingdon formerly of Belle Vernon went to be with his savior on Tuesday February 25, 2025.  Mr. Carlson was born March 28, 1953 in North Charleroi to the late Smith O. Carlson Sr. and Priscilla B. Schneider Carlson.

Dean was a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School class of 1972.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1972 until 1976 aboard the USS LY Spear As-36.  Dean worked as a manager for Econo Lodge Motels and later at Volkswagen in Mt. Pleasant.  He was a proud grandfather who loved to spend time with his grandchildren, especially the times traveling to watch his granddaughter play softball.  He had a kind heart and would help anyone in need.  Dean was the king of dad jokes and will be missed by all who knew him.

Dean is survived by his loving family, his daughter, Tabatha Wieland (Dennis); his grandchildren, Joshuah, Isabella, and Avery Wieland, Daemon Carlson, Eoin Hopkins, and Colton Baciak; his ex-wife and friend, Lorraine Carlson McCullough (Andrew); and by his numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his son, Peter J. Carlson; and his brothers, Smith O. Carlson Jr., Raymond Carlson Sr., and James Carlson.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., 204 Eagle St. Mt. Pleasant.  A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Patti Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt.
