Obituary of Dana L. Lopes

Dana L. Lopes, 71, of Mt. Pleasant and Fredericksburg, PA died Monday February 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Lopes was born May 11, 1953 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Walter T. and Doris “Dolly” Hudec Remaley.

Dana was a graduate of Southmoreland High School class of 1971.  She went on to receive her LPN and worked at various nursing homes, until she became the school nurse at Lickdale Elementary for over 20 years.  After retirement, Dana enjoyed getting together with her work friends for their retirees luncheons.  Dana also enjoyed spending time with her family especially the moments she had with her sons and grandchildren. 

Dana is survived by her loving family, her husband of 50 years, Louis E. Lopes Jr.; her sons, Chad Lopes (Missy), Michael Lopes (Melissa), and Justin Lopes; and by her grandchildren, Kaylee, Karter, Kelsa, Korbin, and Elliott.  She is also survived by her siblings, Donald D. Miller (Verla), Dennis K. Remaley (Terri), and Anita Guckert (Jack); her uncle, Donald “Denver” Hudec; her faithful canine companions Lacey and Casper; and by her numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Walter E. Remaley, Debbie L. King, and Vicki Remaley.

Family and Friends will be received on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Pleasant, where additional viewing will be held on Sunday from noon until the hour of her Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev.
