Obituary of Ray W. Scherer

Ray W. Scherer, 58, of Greensburg, died Sunday February 16, 2025 at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital.  Mr. Scherer was born May 1, 1966 in Mt. Pleasant to Ruth Queer Scherer and the late Ray W. Scherer.

Ray was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School class of 1985.  He worked as a security guard at Latrobe Hospital for over 20 years and various odd jobs in the area.  In his early life Ray was a member of the Calumet Fire Department, and the Greensburg Sportmans Club.  Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and calling bingo at the Mutual Fire Hall.

In addition to his mother, Ray is survived by his wife, April M. Lang Scherer; his children, Raelynn Scherer, and Zachary Scherer; his step-children, Jean Hawes (Mathew Kramer), and Aleasha Donoughe (Andy Scheller); and his grandchildren, Dominic, Carson, Alexa, Ava, and Levi.  Ray is also survived by his brothers, Randy Scherer, and Ryan Scherer (Carin); his nephews, Brendan and Brody Scherer; and by his aunt and uncles, Tressa Cesario, Dennis Scherer, and David Scherer.  In addition to his father, Ray was preceded in death by his niece, Rylee Grace Scherer.
