Obituary of Donald J. Wagner

 

Donald J. Wagner, 84, of Irwin passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at New Haven Court at Lindwood in Greensburg.  Mr. Wagner was born October 14, 1940 in Youngwood to the late Joseph and Nora Hudson Wagner.

 

Donald was a graduate of Hempfield High School class of 1958 and attended Hempfield Technical School for drafting.  Donald was a member of Middle Presbyterian Church and attended Congruity Presbyterian Church in New Alexandria.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves from 1963 to 1969.  He worked as a Manufacturing Supervisor for Overmyer Mould Company and retired from Westinghouse Air Brake Company.  Don was also the owner of Wagner Nursery in Latrobe.  He was a Westmoreland County Master Gardener, volunteered as the Superintendent at the Westmoreland County Fair for over 25 years, an usher at the Greensburg Palace Theater, and was the past President of the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery Association.

 

Donald is survived by his loving family, his children, Dawn Mulnix of Greensburg, Dana Hickman (Steve) of Harrison City, and Devin Wagner (Sarah) of Export; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Allison, Zara, Zaiden, Leah, Micah, Noah, Branden, and Aiden; his sister, Marjorie Thomas; and by his faithful cat Dusty.  In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. Duffield Wagner in 2022; and by his siblings, Richard Wagner, Doris Garrity, Winogene Rae, and James Wagner.

 

In honoring Donald’s wishes, all services will be private for his family.  A private inurnment with military honors will be held at Middle Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Bridges Hospice for their wonderful care of Donald.  All arrangements have been entrusted to Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt.
