Obituary of Robert Caruso

Robert "Robbie" Caruso of Mount Pleasant died Monday, February 19, 2018, at his home, after a fourteen month battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his beloved family. Robbie was born August 20, 1953 in Mount Pleasant, the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Cedro) Caruso. Robbie is a 1971 graduate of Mount Pleasant Area High School His careers have ranged from owning a restaurant, Caruso's New Dale Park in Ruffsdale, to working in the malt beverage industry. Most recently, he was the proprietor of LaMantia Beer Distributor in Blairsville, PA. He was a former member of Medic 10. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Robbie loved spending time with his family and friends, especially with his grandchildren whom he adored. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Ream) Caruso, his daughters, Maura Caruso Wren (Frank) and Mindy Caruso Lucas (Brian), his stepchildren, Andrew Bishop (Natoshia) and Kristen Bishop Shankle (Kenny) and by his beloved grandchildren: Frankie, Vincent, Grace, and Maggie Wren, Natalie, Benjamin, and Joseph Lucas, Kamden and Kyler Bishop and Harper Shankle. Robbie is also survived by his sisters and brothers: Henrietta Balcerek, Amelia Forys (Bob), Jack Caruso (Leona), Henry Caruso (Violet), and Karen Caruso (Bob), his sister in law, Vicki Howells (Edward) his father and mother-in-law, George and Donna Ream and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Robbie was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Pfeiffer (Bob) and Margaret Jurkowski (Bill), his brother in law, Vincent Balcerek and by his infant brothers, Daniel and Timothy. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St. Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Friday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by Robbie's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X RC Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.
