Obituary of Thomas Ernest Milliron

Thomas Ernest Milliron, Sr., age 84 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday March 22, 2017 in the Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford,PA. Mr. Milliron was born October 30, 1932 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Dewey and Mary Fidler Milliron. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Reunion Presbyterian Church of Mount Pleasant, and the Word of Life Ministries in Greensburg. Tom was a 1951 graduate of Ramsay High. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of PA in 1955 and his Master’s Degree from West Virginia University in 1965. Tom proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 as a Medic stationed in AZ. Mr. Milliron began his teaching career at the former East Huntingdon High School. Teaching High School Chemistry and Physics, he retired from the Hempfield Area School District with over 30 years of service. He also taught as an adjunct professor at the Westmoreland County Community College. Tom was a member of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Board where he was currently serving as President. He was an active member of his churches as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder, Deacon, and member of the bible study groups. Tom was very involved in his community as a member of the East Huntingdon Township Sewage Committee. His true passion in life however, was for his gardens. He loved his time spent outdoors, working in the garden and sharing with his family and friends. Embracing his children and grandchildren became his life’s work after his retirement. His time was dedicated and devoted to them; his love shared with them every day of his life. Tom is survived by his loving family: his wife of 59 years, Margaret “Peggy” Doncaster Milliron, his children; Barbara M. Corry and her husband Thomas of Richmond, VA, Thomas E. Milliron, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ, Richard Lee Milliron and his wife Lynne of Lititz, and Daniel Paul Milliron and his wife Marlene of Mars, and by his beloved grandchildren; Margaret Corry, Rachel Corry, Matthew Milliron, Caroline Milliron , Marissa Milliron, and Joshua Milliron. He is also survived by his sister, Constance “Connie” Sue Horak of Strongsville, OH. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Rena Milliron Macdonald. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Tom will be held Saturday at 1:30 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Curt Detar,officiating. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association in Memory of Tom Milliron.
