Obituary of William Lytle

William Lytle, age 79 of Tarrs, PA, died Monday, March 6, 2017 in Excela Health- Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Lytle was born February 10, 1938 in Confluence, PA, the son of the late Francis and Melva Porterfield Lytle. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Bill proudly served in the United States Airforce during the Korean War. He had been employed as a Truck Driver for Green Acres Construction Company for many years. He previously worked as an Independent Owner/ Operator for the J.F. Scott Co. of Dravosburg. Bill was a member of the East Huntingdon Township Fire Department for more than 57 years, serving several years as president, He enjoyed camping with his family and was an avid hunter, but he most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his world. Bill will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his loving wife, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year, Joann Potoka Lytle, his beloved daughter, Tracy Nicklow and Jeffrey of Scottdale, by his grandchildren; Ashley Ohler and Josh, Cory Nicklow and Holly, and by his great grandson, Damien Ohler. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Robert Lytle and Darlene. Ronald Lytle and Patricia, Mary Potoka, Frosty DeForrest and Dick, Carletta Wigle and David, and Brenda Glover and Larry, and by his sister in law, Rose Lytle, and numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion his dog Meeko. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Terry W. Lytle on Feb. 9, 2017, his granddaughter, Emma Rose Nicklow, his step father Carl Lytle, and by his step brother, Jack Lytle. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2 until 8PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Bill's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. (Everyone is asked to please meet at the church). Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 3PM, and the East Huntingdon Volunteer Fire Department will conduct services in the funeral home at 7PM.
